Is Watermelon The New Beauty Secret?

The Watermelon Sleeping Pack

What are the benefits to putting watermelon on your skin? According to Glow Recipe, "Watermelon Rind and flesh are traditionally used in Korea to soothe irritated, inflamed skin. It's full of skin-restoring vitamins, antioxidants, and amino acids."

According to, over 90% watermelon is water. With that in mind, it only makes sense that the first ingredient(also most abundant) on the ingredients list of this product is water.

Note: When you look at the list of ingredients on the back of a product, pay attention to the order they're listed in. They are listed in order of abundance. The first listed ingredient is the most abundant in the product.

Korean Beauty & Glow Recipe:

I have been a fan of Korean Beauty(KBeauty) ever since I backpacked in Asia 3 years ago and discovered sheet masks at Warrens! What I like most about it is that South Korea seems to be where a lot of the innovative products come from. A lot of the beauty and skincare industry take their inspiration from South Korea.

Glow Recipe is an online retailer of KBeauty products. I first discovered them about two years while doing a research project on KBeauty for work. They’re a female-owned company that was started by two friends. Both had a passion for KBeauty and decided to formulate a business around that passion. That’s only the gist of it, of course. There is a lot more to the founding story you can read about here, but I just love that they founded together off of a mutual passion (and as friends). When I heard they had new private label products coming out, I knew I had to try them!

Description & Claims:

It’s a sleep mask (pack=mask). It’s meant to hydrate, smoothe, and gently exfoliate skin. It smells exactly how everyone describes it on watermelon jolly ranchers!

I’ve had it now for one month.  You can sleep with it on overnight or you can use it as a wash off mask for 10 minutes. I use it in both ways. The first time I used it, I used way too much. You only need 2 scoops. You can use it daily, but I’ve used it about 4 times a week since buying it. Before using it, you need to mix the contents because they might have separated.

It works! The first time I used it my face was noticeably peeling. The box says to use only 2 scoops and I probably used 5 or 6. After that, I started using it more as a wash off mask. Occasionally, I use it as a sleep mask. It doesn’t transfer onto my pillow either which is great! I like it and I’d buy it again because it makes my skin feel smooth and refreshed!

Do you already have and like it? If so, every Wednesday they do #WatermelonWednesday If you win, you will get goodies and be featured on their page. Look into it on their Instagram here.
